ENGLISH FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to provide students with knowledge of the uses of English for communication in particular workplaces and with knowledge of syllabus design for teaching English in particular workplace. The program will involve various activities from the lectures to impart the concepts of ESP to the practices of the syllabus design. The materials will include the principles of ELT and their relation to the teaching of English using an ESP approach, the basic concepts of ESP, needs analysis, syllabus design, language analysis on ESP programs, material design, roles of ESP teachers, and assessment in ESP programs. The assessment of this program will be based on learners’ performance on assignments, tests, and a project on syllabus design.

INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH GRAMMAR
LEARNING OBJECTIVES (LO):
After attending all required meetings, participating actively in the discussion, and doing all tasks assigned in this course, the students are expected to be able to master intermediate English Grammar needed for both presenting high-school (SMU) structure materials and coping with their studies. The topics include: Modifiers (A – F), Passive Voice (A – G), Degrees of Comparisons (A-G), Conditional Sentences (A – G) and Adverbial Clauses in Complex Sentences (A – D)

BASIC ENGLISH GRAMMAR
LEARNING OUTCOMES (LO):
After attending all required meetings, participating actively in the discussion, and doing all tasks assigned in this course, the students are expected to be able to use grammatical aspects of Elementary English Grammar needed for both presenting high-school (SMU) structure materials and coping with their studies. The materials will cover Kinds and Aspects of English Sentences, Review of Tenses, Nouns and Pronouns, S-V Agreements, Compound Sentences, and Direct and Indirect Questions.
